The East High Science Club was revived from an earlier tradition almost 30
years earlier (initially called Lab club). The current Science Club was
started by Harvey Peterson (president) in the 2003-2004 school year. At that
time there were 13 active members and three advisors (Mr. Guidubaldi, Mr.
McCormick and Mr. Stone). During that year, the club sponsored a trip to hear
Dr. Stephen Hawking at Case Western Reserve University, a cave trip to Altman
Cave, a rock wall climbing trip at Kendall Cliffs, catapult building, a winter
hike in the Cuyahoga Valley, a LEGO robotics competition at Case Western, and
an Envirothon competition in Salem, Ohio.
During the 2004-2005 school year, Kory Urban became club president and the
club had 10 active members and one advisor (Mr. Guidubaldi). During this year
the club participated in a space launch/moon landing simulation in the East
High Technology Lab, the Altman Cave trip, CWRU LEGO robotics competition and
the Envirothon competition at the Johnny Appleseed Center.
The current school year, 2005-2006, was also presided over by President Kory
Urban and had 12 active members and one advisor (Guidubaldi). This year's
activities included in an Altman Cave trip, the Summit County Engineering
Bridge Building Competition, the CWRU LEGO Robotics competition and will participate in
the Lake County Envirothon Competition.
